SAN ANTONIO -- A woman said she was horrified to find the body parts of a missing cat in the front yard of her Northwest Side home. Myra Esparza said six cats have vanished in the last three weeks from the Minthill neighborhood near Interstate 10 and Wurzbach Parkway.
Esparza said she believes it is due to foul play. "Our beloved pets are missing," Esparza said. "Somebody is taking our cats and mutilating them." Animal Cruelty Investigator Rick Marxkors said the cat appeared to have been mutilated by a person. "The cat looks like it had its legs chopped off instead of (being) bitten by some animal," Marxkors said.
Esparza said she wants authorities to catch the person(s) responsible for the apparent act of animal cruelty. "You can't go around stealing people's animals and slaughtering them like this," she said. "You have to pay, there are laws." Officers said anyone suspected of animal cruelty could face jail time.
