Could LHC create blackholes ?

Dr. Walter L. Wagner discusses the potential destruction of our planet earth by creating micro black holes and strangelets with the LHC. He indicates the current CERN safety reports are seriously flawed and contain unacceptable risks.
For example, if micro black holes are created, which CERN estimates about 1 micro black hole every second, Dr. Rossler's calculations estimate 50 months to 50 years to grow large enough to destroy Earth.
So the effects of this experiment may be months to years after the first LHC collisions.

  • I wonder how this would be seen if it were Iran that had made the thing, or some other shithole, west hating, muslim country?

  • Like all science there is no absolute 100%. So even a .000000000000001% chance of this destroying the earth is still too great of a risk.

And black holes only dissipate if they have no more matter to intake. Even at a microscopic level, if it has matter to feed on it will continue to grow.

    • Wow no offence mate but you have surely been reading too many spook stories. You are essentially saying that anything has the possibility (no matter how remote) of destroying the world, hence we should halt every experiment forever.

Collisions with the same energy as the LHC can produce, happen all the time in our upper atmosphere. Don't you think we would be dead by now if you were right about even the smallest blackholes never collapsing if there is matter available to appropriate?

    • Yes that is EXACTLY what I am saying. and all scientists know that the occurence of Earth and life on it is fleeting compared to the universe and its destructive power. so yes we can go at any time. Why create something to make the odds greater? We already have artificial pathogens and nuclear weapons, wait lets take things further right? RIGHT??

The LHC is a waste of money. We will find out great things about the universe, however those answers do not change anything. Everyone knew that More..

    • I really don't know how to say anything to reassure you, since you only see the LHC as a debating tool and a waste of time.

I'm sure you are a well intentioned but you are obviously terrified by anything you don't understand.

All i can suggest is that you live your next few months to the fullest lol....

  • it will.. but they will be at the atomic level and will last a fraction of a second. Anyone who says otherwise is a tinfoil hat wearing idiot.

  • They spent billions on it.. No theory will stop it now! Simple fact is they dont know what will happen. If they knew what will happen they never would have built it!

    Risk is so fun.

  • whats the fact that this WONT happen ?

why do ppl think it wont

i want to hear that argument

    • I am waiting on that answer too. I would guess that nobody posting here is qualified to answer that question. Maybe someone here could point you to someone that is... Anyone that comes on this board and makes a claim that they know the answer to your question that is not qualified to answer this question (and as I said it is doubtful that anyone on this site is) is an idiot. I would like to hear from experts on all sides who have objectively studied these questions and anyone who disagrees and h More..

    • The only argument you need to recognize is that the most intelligent people on the planet are in consensus that it's completely safe. There is a consensus FAR beyond what there is behind things like global warming, and these physicists and cosmologists are wildly more intelligent in the first place. There is more of a consensus now about the safety of particle colliders than there was surrounding the safety of the first A-bomb test for instance.

Hawking and Kaku. etc. Take their word for it, no More..

    • The black holes would be at the atomic level... they would only last microseconds. We simply do not have the energy to create anything more.

    • If the LHC created a black hole, it'd be tiny as hell and wouldn't have that much gravity. Black holes evaporate faster the smaller they are, so it would also disintegrate immediately. They evaporate through 'Hawking radiation'. Virtual particle pairs are created near a black hole's surface and one particle in the pair gets sucked in and gains energy. This allows the other particle to escape and leads to a net loss of mass/energy.

    • Our current knowledge and tech, it would be completely impossible to do what these fear mongers say will happen.

  • The LHC is not doing anything that does not already happen millions times in the universe. Only tin foil hates believe it will cause a black hole that could destroy the earth.

    • The west also excel at technology (like the computer you are typing on) but i don't want to piss on your hate party.

Keep buying our products and technology.... and complaining.
