Authorities say an upstate New York woman has been charged with child endangerment after witnesses told police she took her daughter for a swim in the dangerous waters at the base of Niagara Falls.
Police at Niagara Falls State Park say Jaime Lynn Bailey of Trumansburg was charged Wednesday evening after she took her daughter to an off-limits area at the base of the American side of the Falls.
Police say Bailey, the girl and two men had climbed over a stone wall to get to the restricted, boulder-strewn area, where witnesses reported seeing them in the water.
Bailey was charged with endangering the welfare of the child, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
She posted bail and was released. A message left at her home Friday morning wasn't immediately returned.

I do not know what is worse for the child, swimming at the base of the falls there were their mother judged (correctly) was safe... for clearly they did not die! or seeing their mother being violently arrested and humiliated and maybe sent to jail. I happen to live pretty close Niagra Falls and I've been there dozens of times. It is UNBELIEVABLY dangerous at the base of the falls. Several stuntmen drowned at the base of the falls performing some stunt around the whirlpools. Most people who survive going over the falls actually drown at the base trapped in undercurrents, whirlpools, and very dangerous rapids that will smash your ass against rocks.
