@EntitlementCentralNYC
For the first time in my life i have to agree with the guy making the video...
The cop looks like an ignorant fuck, the guy said it a million times in the video "im taking pictures of the traffic for a time lapse" Is that fucking hard to understand!??! What is he thinking? Is he afraid that the guy is hiding some sort of nuclear weapon on the CAMERA?

you americans are so fucking funny, you brag all the time about how free you are, but the reality is way different. You are so opressed by the authorities that you don't even know. Pull your head out of your ass before it is too late!

@manemebasat Ive done my share of traveling in other countries. Instead of getting justice on national TV like this guy did, you get get your camera equipment confiscated by police and the video destroyed.

@manemebasat I agree he is doing it right. The point is 9/10 cops in the USA aren't going to harass a photographer like this cop. And the 1/10 that does, has a good chance of being humiliated on public TV. For you to extract that the people are "so oppressed by authorities..." is just plain inaccurate.

@Cormac technically that is correct, unless he is using a strobe light and dust to video the pressure waves.

@Cormac The cop has a confused interpretation of the wiretap law. If you record audio of third parties without their knowledge, that violates wiretap, but I'm not sure it applies in the public domain where there is no expectation of privacy and the recording equipment is in full view.

@xlator

@yuyu This is why I think some of the cop lovers here who think cops are golden and can do no wrong and should be allowed to do as they please when they please, are idiots. Power corrupts and cops should be held accountable ALL THE TIME.
These cops should have to apologize, but they won't.

@yuyu you're right, but the question is what can we do about it? Where to start? Maybe we should have a "Video tape traffic" day where LL across the US all video major highways. And all get the shit beat out of us. Hey, freedom ain't free, right?

What the hell is wrong with the cop that he is suspicious of a guy taking pictures? Paranoid much? Where is it written that you need to produce ID to take photographs. What a piece of shit the cop is.

This is not just a problem in the states. If your a photographer you really need to now the law of the place. Speaking from experiences a amateur photographer this is all too common a theme. Some people when they get a badge then the power goes to their head and they become a little Hitler.

You would think, what with the number of these 'I know my rights' videos on the Internet, that maybe the cops would be educated/informed as to what the law actually was about videoing people. I mean fuck it I don't even live in the US and I know this?
Sad that in the so called 'land of the free' the cops even bother to hassle people doing something as innocuous as this. Is it really so bad? Presumably we only see the worst of it. But Every vid I see of US police they are total pricks!
