Adult cartoon from the 1920s.
Disney animator Ward Kimball offered the following story about the short film: The first pornographic-cartoon was made in New York, called "Eveready Harton", made in the late 20's. Originally silent of course, a backing track was added after it was allegedly developed in Cuba by three independent studios.
The story goes that each one did a section of it without telling the other studios what they were doing. The first two studios gave the final image to the next studio, so that the next studio would continue the work. The studios allegedly involved were Max Fleischer, Paul Terry, and the Mutt and Jeff studio. Nobody knew the end result.
They didn't see the finished product till the night of the big show. A couple of guys who were there tell me the laughter almost blew the top off the hotel where they were screening it. Supposedly, the cartoon was made the group of famous animators for a private party in honor of Winsor McCay, another famous cartoonist of the time who died in 1934.
Another story is that when a copy of the short was screened in San Francisco in the late 1970s, the program notes attributed the animation to George Stalling, George Canata, Rudy Zamora, Sr. and Walter Lantz. The short circulated informally, shown only at small underground festivals or parties, until 2002 when it was included in the theatrically released compilation titled The Good Old Naughty Days.
