RAW: Ellicott City train derailment aftermath

ELLICOTT CITY (WMAR) - Police say that two 19-year-olds died in a Tuesday train derailment near Old Frederick Road in Old Ellicott City.

Elizabeth Nass and Rose Mayr, both of Ellicott City, have been confirmed dead.

Nass' family says that she was going to be a junior at JMU this fall.

The crash happened at 12:02 AM on the historic bridge in downtown Ellicott City.

    • @russiancrashdummy the historic ellicott city main street is a popular place for young people to go drinking. According to tweets they made it sounds like that were on the bridge looking at the street when the train came buy. I'm assuming that they were crushed by the train cars. I live in ellicott city and this bridge is a common place for kids to hang out on, and the entire rail road line is frequented by fisher man and hikers.

    • @highsociety were they sitting below? they had tweeted that they were on the bridge, however they could still have been below when it happened.

      I exactly where this is and i can definatly see how the train cars fell onto that parking lot
