VENICE, Fla. -- A Tuesday morning photo shoot turned deadly in the waters near Venice when a helicopter crashed, killing two people and injuring another.
The copter went down in about 20 feet of water about two miles off of a main road about six miles northeast of Venice in the Gulf of Mexico.
The shoot was for "Power Boat" magazine, and among those on the boat
was a model, who may have actually saved the life of the pilot. The unidentified woman also happens to be an emergency room nurse, and she jumped into the water after the crash. Witnesses said she pulled the pilot to safety and also recovered the body of one of the other victims.
