    • @1098r Exactly. Some people act like no former president has ever had to fix the problems of their predecessor. Look at the disaster Martin Van Buren inherited after Jackson destroyed the Bank of the US.

    • @1098r Every year that we don't see improvement, the more the WH says 'The recession was worser than we thought' and '8 years of Bush really dug us in deep. Did you really think that Obama was going to turn things around in his first term like he said he going to?' So the longer the recovery is, the more Bush fucked up and people eat this up.

My point about Van Buren was that he didn't complain. He knew what type of economic mess he was getting into and lead the country the best he could.

  • "Blame Bush" has been the democrat mantra for years. Obama gets away with things Bush would have been shredded for.

Never mind that Clinton, one of their own, is responsible, in large part, for the mortgage bust.

The Obama administration is treating green energy like it's a current reality. The fact of the matter is that it's a developing field. Until something viable is discovered, we can't drive to work in vehicles powered by unicorn farts.

    • @jum_runky Actually the mortgage bust can be traced all the way back to the Carter admin and The Fair Housing Act.

    • @jum_runky It seems Canada is the only country close to us that gets it with energy. Well said. Green is a dream. A very, very distant dream.

    • @Snarfums

While that's true, repealing the Glass-Steagal act was a huge contributor.

You are correct, though. Carter made it possible for people to own houses out of their means; Clinton made it easier for banks to fuck them over.

    • @jum_runky True, true and more true. I was just throwing my 2 cents worth in.

    • @Snarfums

And you were correct in doing so. Carter did indeed start the whole mess rolling.

  • I haven't seen it below $3.22 since Obama took office.

  • It's pretty indefensible. You can't deny the facts that gas is now at $6.00 a gallon in Florida and $5.00 a gallon in California. But as Obama says, energy prices must "necessarily skyrocket" so he can slam his green energy down our throats.

    • “we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe.” President Barack Obama’s Energy secretary Steven Chu 2008

Nope, no agenda here..move along, all is well in la-la progressive utopia building..

Not sure who you were addressing, but yes we can.

    • @toiletsnake - OK Svenghoolie, here are the facts:

5.49 a gallon regular at 811 W. Olympic Blvd & Figueroa St. in Los Angeles: http://www.losangelesgasprices.com/

5.89 a gallon regular at 8788 Vineland Ave near Apopka-Vineland Rd. in Lake Buena Vista. (Was over $6.00 two days ago) http://www.floridastategasprices.com/

Did I say average prices? No.

    • @kenroar

So you quote the absolute highest price possible as if it's representative , and from a city, and not a state which was what you were talking about Now who's being dishonest here.

Look at the station in Florida, look at the prices around it at other stations. It's either a mistake or not typical so you shouldn't be excited.

    • @toiletsnake - The highest price is still relevant. It is still there and proves the point I was trying to make that prices are skyrocketing. When prices go well above $4.00 a gallon for everyone, I won't tell you I told you so. Not sure what point you're trying to make. Is your point that gas prices aren't rising?

  • $34.00 dollars a barrel the day we invaded Iraq

    Posted Feb-26-2012 By

    • @sixgun It was $72 dollars when Reagan was elected and $21 dollars when he left office.. Check out the prices between the embargo and the Iran/Iraq war.. Hell, go all the way back and see what it did during the world wars and Vietnam.. Booming 50's it fell..

  • OK republicans. No more talk about abortion, parental planning, churches and women. Lets get it together!!! I want to see low gas prices, more jobs in the USA, 'Made in USA' labels and a better way of life. Don't blame Obama (Obama wasn't allowed to blame Bush). It is all on you to fix this with your own merit.

Do that, and you win all of America's support.

    • @Rhemis You may want to email the debate moderators and tell them to stop asking questions about contraception and abortion then. The GOP doesn't pick the content. I agree, who gives a fuck about anything but this economy???

      Posted Feb-26-2012 By

    • @Rhemis Rhemis ... what do you mean Obama was not allowed to Blame Bush... that is all he has DONE since he took office.

All bullshit set aside... there had better be some ground gained here or we are in trouble.

    • @rightbehindyou
I am saying that the Republicans say that Obama can't blame bush. They always do, the party of "no".

All bullshit set aside too! We need JOBS in the USA first. No more outsourcing. NO MORE. I remember as a kid almost everything was made in the USA, and then some foreign products. It was all good.

Taxes were high, and taxes were low, but everyone had a job, who wanted a job.

If WWIII broke out, we'd have to have China make the steel for ships, vehicles and bombs for More..
