Hot air balloon plummets to ground, killing 19 aboard

A hot air balloon carrying 19 tourists and two Egyptians exploded and plummeted to the ground, killing 19. According to officials, a fire broke out in the balloon while it was just feet from the ground, then the balloon shot upwards again to approximately 1,000 feet in the air before collapsing.

  • You know I was on a vacation with my mom and she kept insisting that we go on a balloon ride over the city. I had a gut feeling to keep telling her I wasn't interested. There's just something about a hot air balloon I can't make out as being safe.

    Maybe its that I'm up there in the altitude at the mercy of Nature and Wind and there's a fire ball shooting into a thin fabric. Unless I was given a packed parachute I will always say NO.

  • I wonder how it fe, Oh, I remember how it feels watching someone falling past you! The last time I jumped, I was in the Navy. It was my 9th jump. My friend and I went through Rigging school together and on our last jump his chute didn't open. The worst thing, the thing that made me quit, he was a better Rigger than me and he packed his own chute!
