Ground Zero Mosque Supporters Beg Greedy, Lying, Human Rights Violating War Criminal to Join Their Crusade

Byron York has a piece at the Washington Examiner about how supporters of the Ground Zero mosque are asking George W. Bush to show support for President Obama:
“It’s time for W. to weigh in,” writes the New York Times’ Maureen Dowd. Bush, Dowd explains, understands that “you can’t have an effective war against the terrorists if it is a war on Islam.”
Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson is also looking for an assist from Bush. “I…would love to hear from former President Bush on this issue,” Robinson wrote Tuesday in a Post chat session.
And Peter Beinart, a former editor of the New Republic, is also feeling some nostalgia for the former president. “Words I never thought I’d write: I pine for George W. Bush,” Beinart wrote Tuesday in The Daily Beast. “Whatever his flaws, the man respected religion, all religion.”
Are they asking the same George W. Bush who started an illegal and immoral war, lied about WMDs so his buddies could profit from the invasion and tortured exclusively Muslim detainees to come to the rescue of a president who was supposed to save America from all the horror Bush hath wrought? That’s fine, I just wanted to make sure we were on the same page.
I know many on the left support the mosque, but I didn’t expect some of them to sell their souls for it.
Either the Obama administration is losing its base or this has been the most successful billboard campaign ever:
Victory Mosque Muslims Refuse to Discuss Building Elsewhere
(Read WP posts from Van Helsing) | (Read MT posts from Van Helsing) | rssLocation, location, location. Those are the three most important things to consider when building mosques to commemorate Muslim triumphs over the unclean infidel. This is why Ground Zero Victory Mosque imam Faisal Abdul Rauf has refused to even discuss accepting evidently free land to build his mosque somewhere other than at the site of the murder of 3,000 Americans in the name of his death cult.
The developers of an Islamic cultural center that would include a mosque near Ground Zero have rejected Gov. David Paterson's offer to help them find a different site.
Paterson said today the group is apparently committed to building in the proposed site. "I think they would like to stay where they are, and I certainly respect that and I certainly respect them," Paterson said.
Certainly; Paterson is a Democrat. At least he seems to be dimly aware that the peasants under his rule aren't going to take this lying down. The same can't be said for everyone:
Mayor Michael Bloomberg … last week made an impassioned defense of the project, saying it would be a "sad day" if the project gets shut down.
By dismissing out of hand the idea of constructing this obscenity elsewhere, Rauf and his furtive Islamofascist financiers have made it deliberately clear that the point is to gloat and to provoke. For our liberal rulers to quack otherwise is not so much ingenuous or even disingenuous as it is a gob of saliva in the face of any decent American who might be listening.

Pelosi Wants Probe Of Mosque Opponents
From the Washington Times:
Rep. Pelosi calls for investigation of WTC mosque opposition
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, California Democrat, called for an investigation of those who are protesting the building of the Ground Zero Mosque on Tuesday. She told San Francisco’s KCBS radio:
"There is no question there is a concerted effort to make this a political issue by some. And I join those who have called for looking into how is this opposition to the mosque being funded," she said. "How is this being ginned up that here we are talking about Treasure Island, something we’ve been working on for decades, something of great interest to our community as we go forward to an election about the future of our country and two of the first three questions are about a zoning issue in New York City."
Calls to investigate the funding for those proposing the $100 million "Cordoba House" have fallen on deaf ears, though, as New York’s Mayor Mike Bloomberg has described such an investigation as "un-American." …
Of course, as the article notes, Mr. Bloomberg and others have been apoplectic at the suggestion that someone should investigate the funding behind the Cordoba House project.
Still, Ms. Pelosi obviously hopes someone will find some Swatiskaas in the closet somewhere. After all, no one can ever oppose the left or their allies without having some nefarious motive.
You can hear a more clear version the audio portion of the exchange here.
Democratic New York Congressmen Oppose Ground Zero Mosque
The Cult of Personality
How bizarre is this? A listener who works for Seattle Public Utilities sent me this flyer that was circulating at his work a couple weeks ago. In his letter, he wrote:
I thought you would enjoy this. Another way the City of Seattle caters to special interest groups among city employees. Being a City of Seattle employee myself, I find this just a waste of taxpayer money. The people who attended this nonsense make between $20 and $60 an hour. They will say it's only two hours - but the prep time and getting there and clean up most likely quite a few people spent all day on this.
I scanned in the flyer - because you have to see it to believe it.

Join the SPU (Seattle Public Utilities) Affinity Groups in celebration of President Obama's birthday, Wednesday August 4th.
Wear your favorite Obama memorabilia (t-shirts, hats, pins, scarves, etc.)
In honor of our president's birthday we will be getting together for a potluck lunch - all are welcome
We request that you bring a dish you would present to the president!
For those interested we are having a "bake President Obama a birthday cake" contest
Just when you thought things couldn't get any more bizarre in bizarro-world, the sun comes up and brings another example.
We called Seattle Public Utilities - they tell us that, despite the listener's concerns, there were no public costs for the event. And that it was cleared in advance by the city's ethics and elections commission.
I still find the idea of an Obama birthday party at Seattle Public Utilities to be an extraordinarily odd event.
