DAVENPORT, Fla. -- A Maryland man is dead after authorities say his adult son set him on fire at a central Florida home.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office reports that 37-year-old Ronald W. Harris Jr. was charged with first-degree murder Monday night, shortly after his father died at an Orlando hospital.
Harris and his father, 58-year-old Ronald W. Harris, reportedly got into an argument at a Davenport home Sunday evening. Authorities say Harris doused his father with gasoline, lit him on fire and fled. Deputies found the son hiding behind nearby businesses early Monday morning. He was initially charged with arson and attempted first-degree murder.
The father was in Florida to move personal property out of a family storage area.
