Mother charged in her baby girl's murder 'for knowing about abuse months BEFORE her boyfriend beat toddler to death
21-year-old woman has turned herself in months after her daughter’s death after she was indicted on several charges.
Neena Costanza surrendered to police on Friday after being indicted in Davidson County, Tennessee on charges of murder, aggravated child neglect and child endangerment in the July 9 death of 17-month-old Eloise Costanza.
Police say the child received fatal injuries while in the care of Costanza's boyfriend, 22-year-old Jacob Scott Hughes, who was arrested shortly after the death on murder and abuse charges.
The indictment alleges that Costanza knew her daughter was being abused, but left her in Hughes' care anyway.
According to the Tennessean, Hughes contacted Costanza through Facebook on July 8 to tell her that Eloise was having difficulty breathing.
The police report states that paramedics found the child covered in bruises and unresponsive. Hughes has said the child received her injuries in a fall.
