People have all sorts of views on the effectiveness of US troops...but anyone who's been to the cliffs of Pointe Du Hoc in Normandy knows the Rangers meant business

@ElegantDecline
Agreed the fighting men from America come in two types. Those who are willing and those who are effective.

Uh huh, Pointe Du Ho is totally one of the most impressive battles that was overlooked. The invasion was like... professional rock wall climbing while getting shot at from the top, and then living under those conditions for... what was it? Three days? Something like less than 40% of the original invasion party survived as well.

Imagine being one of these men and as an old man, just noticing yourself in this video? That's would sure be something. Really cool video though, I just wish audio recording was viable back then too for stuff like this.

Its been nearly 28 years since attending Ranger School at Ft. Benning, garroting even then was a skill passed on and honed even back then within the Battalions and Regiment itself. I dont know what the training regime is like now, has changed quite a bit now as I have been told through friends still associated with the training functions. A few notes I have mentioned with some of the comments. Yes, Rangers have been taking the fight to America's opponents for some time now. Many Rangers are ' St More..

@Koranimal You get a bit of the 'star treatment' as well, i.e. a young Clint Eastwood in Where Eagles Dare
