A multi vehicle accident just before 6:30 P.M. this evening involving a Codiac R.C.M.P patrol car. Many Firefighters from Moncton Fire Department along with 5 ambulances were needed at a very dangerous intersection of Wheeler Blvd. & Lewisville road. Paramedics and Firefighters were putting the injured on backboards as other ambulances arrive. Roads were getting slick with black ice, after a sunny afternoon melting snow and ice from a earlier snow storm this week. Codiac R.C.M.P. officers were directing traffic and needed to stop traffic completely so the Ambulances could transport the injured.
There has been many many accidents at this intersection, where you are coming down Wheeler Blvd speed limit is 100 kmh but then changes to 60 kmh just before you get to the intersection so a lot of the traffic comes through the intersection at high speeds . Should have been a overpass constructed here years ago.
