ORLANDO, Fla.Dan Daley flashed a smile as he walked
out of federal court on Tuesday afternoon. The 87-year-old World War II
veteran claims his civil rights were violated when Orlando Police
Officer Travis Lamont used an excessive take down technique on him, which
left him with a broken neck.
"It was an unfortunate incident that occurred, but that stuff happens," Daley said.
Daley
is suing over the incident which happened back in 2010, outside the
Caboose Bar in Downtown Orlando. Officer Lamont claimed that Daley
was overly aggressive after leaving the bar, adding that he was
belligerent and physically threatened him. Daley denies the allegations
and says all the true facts will surface to the top.
"I just hope it turns out fair, that's all," he said. "I'll be glad to get it over with."
Officer
Lamont had no comment as he left court. Two key witnesses testified
during the court proceedings. A retired police chief, hired to evaluate
use of excessive force, said the take down maneuver was "uncontrolled"
and that a more thorough, in-depth investigation should have been
conducted by the Orlando Police Department.
Andrew Scott III, said Lamont should have brought
Daley down on his chest and not on his head, which caused the neck
injury. Another witness, criminologist George Kirkham, told the jury
that the maneuver was "very extreme and unwarranted."
Daley's legal team called on one eyewitness who testified that Officer Lamont's claims of feeling threatened were unjustified.

Thug Jailed in Beatdown of an 85 year old man

im sorry, but having run a busy bar for 10 years and worked in the business over 20 years, i have dealt with thousands of drunk people of all kinds, and there is absolutely NO reason a man that age would require that level of force to be controlled unless he was brandishing a weapon. and if you can't get a knife away from a drunk 87 year old without breaking his f*cking neck, you might ought to go into another line of work or actually stop being a lazy piece of shit and go train. anybody that More..

Sick of these stories about police officers being reckless...
When are they going to start looking at recruitment and training?
Something is fucking wrong before they even put on the uniform.

@ThePersuader If the Japanese ever really get the robot down then perhaps some day we will be able to replace unstable cops with unemotional program following robots.... in like 60 years or never...

@givemeadamnname No need for robots, just train people to be professional at what they do. weed out the ones who cannot follow the rules.

An 87 year old can hardly make a fist - let alone make a threat!
Too many police forces take military service as a good reference. The military does not face children, drunks, families in distress and 87 year olds. Hire more cops with academic and athletic backgrounds instead of former soldiers.

@Nepean109 I like the academic idea, tho I am reminded of the Stanford Prison Experiment.
We need the most reserved people possible who will still act when it is truly needed without shitting their pants everytime a 6 year old pulls out a snickers bar, but who the hell are they?

A focking travesty and shame. Are some of these cops such broke dick cunts to apply strong arm techinques on an 87 year old man, let alone Veteran of this country? Pretty focking pathetic, do not know the whole story or events leading up to the confrontation, yet dam, the man was a hero

TV and movies in the USA for the last 50 years have shown police as heroes and professionals. Those ideals have to be EARNED in the field, not awarded with the badge.
This simple difference has been lost.

.187? That's what I'm talkin' bout! Word to the wise, gramps; when you are piss ass drunk, it's best just to shut up, go home and go the fuck to sleep. That being said, that cop is a fucking nut-sack and he needs to be facing some serious charges.

Like I said in an earlier video of cops using extreme force, they are just power tripping and not caring who gets in their way. Bunch of scum who use the badge to assault and murder the people they are here to protect.
The man was 87 years old and piss drunk, a fly could have put him on his ass if flying at him. Seriously, being a fit for duty officer needs more mental evaluation than physical.

Gotta say that this is one tough old guy, I don't know if many 85 year olds would've survived something that violent.

Motherfucker...
To all those about to jump to the side of the cops, the cops here in Florida are more often than not crooked. Whenever theres a bad story about cops, you can safely assume it's from Florida. Kind of like the one paying prostitutes with Taco Bell or the guys who "searched" girls coming out of clubs secluded from the public.
