@bmused55 Surely was. The Sterling went out when the Lancasters went in. Clearly the Lancaster was the superior aircraft.

Not 100% sure,but i've a feeling this old movie reel was taken at RAF Oakington near Cambridge. I know there was a railway line at the back of the base and in one shot you can clearly see a train passing.Also,east anglia was covered in airbases for heavy bombers and there were Sterlings at Oakington too. Just a shame there isnt more info with these old reels.

My Grandfather briefly piloted a Stirling in '42. Once they reached 10,000ft they didn't want climb any higher. Terrible aircraft, but he enjoyed his time flying them.
