1>> Ever wondered how the pull of gravity is calculated between heavenly bodies? It's simple. Just multiply their masses together, and then divide the total by the square of the distance between them.
2>>. The Sun travels around the galaxy once every 200 million years – a journey of 100,000 light years.
3>> The very furthest galaxies are spreading away from us at more than 90% of the speed of light.
4>> The Universe may have neither a centre nor an edge, because according to Einstein’s theory of relativity, gravity bends all of space time around into an endless curve
5>>. Twice during Mercury’s orbit, it gets so close to the Sun and speeds so much that the Sun seems to go backwards in the sky.
6>>. Planets have magnetic field around them because of the liquid iron in their cores. As the planets rotate, so the iron swirls, generating electric currents that create the magnetic field.
7>>. Jupiter has no surface for a spacecraft to land on because it is made mostly from helium gas and hydrogen. The massive pull of Jupiter’s gravity squeezes the hydrogen so hard that it is liquid.
8>> Voyager 2 has flown over 6 billion km and is heading out of the solar system after passing close to Neptune in 1989.
9>>. Winds ten times stronger than a hurricane on Earth swirl around Saturn’s equator reaching up to 1100 km/h – and they never let up: even for a moment.
10>>. Einstein’s theory of general relativity shows that gravity not only pulls on matter, but also space and even ‘Time’ itself.
11>>. With powerful telescopes, astronomers can see galaxies 2 billion light years away. This means we see them as they were when the only life forms in Earth were bacteria.
12>> The fastest spinning objects in the Universe are neutron stars – these can rotate 500 times in just 1 second.
13>>. In summer in Uranus, the sun does not set for 20 years. In winter, darkness lasts for 20 years. In autumn, the sun rises and sets every 9 hours.
14>> Uranus’s moon Miranda is the weirdest moon of all. It seems to have been blasted apart, and then put together again.
15>>. The heart of a star reaches 16 million °C. A grain of sand this hot would kill someone 150 km away.
16>>. The sun weighs 2,000 trillion trillion tones – about 300,000 times as much as the Earth – even though it is made almost entirely of hydrogen and helium, the lightest gases in the Universe.
17>> The nuclear fusion reactions in the Sun’s core send out billions of light photons every minute but they take 10 million years to reach its surface.
18>> The Hiroshima bombs released 84 trillion joules of energy. A supernova releases 125,000 trillion trillion times as much.
19>>. The brightest stars in the night sky are not actually stars, but the planets Jupiter, Venus, Mars and Mercury.
20>>. There may be 20 trillion galaxies in the Universe.
21>>.If you put saturn in water it would float.
22>>the planet earth is travelling through space at 530kph an hour.
23>>the light hitting the earth right now is 30,000 yrs old.

Some of the stuff isn't exactly true or too simplified to a point its like saying the octagon block fits into the circle shaped hole.

Well one the SUN is aproximately 26,000 LY from the center if you take in PI you get aprox 81,000 LY distance not 100,000 LY.
Galaxies speeding away at the 'speed of light' is relative keeping in mind we are also speeding in the opposite direction in relative to other galaxies particularly if you account galaxies located on the edge of the great attractor.

@verycoolcat
Also the gravity effecting time is waaaay too simplified that it could potentially give someone the wrong idea because you also have to take in rotational speed and other factors.

That one IRKs me a little... because you aren't calculating deceleration and its redshift telling how fast it currently is moving.
If you look at a galaxy several million LY away.... and we are both speeding away from each other. The whole 'two trains' depart opposite directions idea.

@bantexkaa Your consciousness will cease to exist and your flesh will decay. And eventually in millions/billions of years when this planet decays you shall return to the stardust from whence you came...
The sooner you get to grips with that, the sooner you can get on with life. :P

@CELTICWARRIOR
Well I mean, all of them are extremely simplified and the light hitting the Earth taking 30,000 years at the end one is just a straight up lie. Light takes a matter of minutes to get here from the sun and the stuff hitting Earth from the stars takes millions to billions of years to get here. Maybe it's an average?
Also light does not take 10 million years to get from the center of the sun to the Earth, that doesn't even make sense.

And I'm not pretending I know all of this stuff but there are plenty that are straight up untrue so I'd advise anyone reading this to take it all with a huge grain of salt, for all I know they could all be untrue.

23>>which light? The light that supposedly takes a million years to climb up from the core or the light from the surface, which is pretty obviously not 30,000 years old or we would not be able to see any activity on the sun until 30,000 years after it happened.

It's a fact that the light coming from the sun takes a matter of minutes to get from the Earth, and the ten million years one is just nonsensical on all accounts.

reading some of your comments i think this post maybe over some of you heads.and i am not going to explain each and every one of them.il my best to try and explain the ones you are confused about ok.Our Galaxy – the Milky Way is spinning at a rate of 225 kilometers per second.
In addition, the galaxy is travelling through space at the rate of 305 kilometers per second. This means that we are traveling at a total speed of 530 kilometers (330 miles) per second. That means that in one minute yo More..

"The nuclear fusion reactions in the Sun’s core send out billions of light photons every minute but they take 10 million years to reach its surface."
If you know what photons are, they are, in generalization, the particles that make up light. You didn't use the word energy in either of the posts, not that light isn't a form of energy.

530kph relative to what? orbital speed around the sun is over 100000kph, rotational at the equator is 1600kph.
