Following is an excerpt from an Al-Jazeera TV report showing footage of a U.S. soldier being killed by a sniper in Iraq. The report aired on September 8, 2008.

Presenter: In Iraq, a group called the Mujahideen Army said in a video posted on the Internet that it had managed to gun down an American soldier in North Baghdad. The video shows the soldier being shot and falling to the ground. Al-Jazeera TV could not confirm the video's authenticity from an independent source.
