Mumbai: Three-year-old Aryan Belel's body was found inside an unused Maruti Esteem in Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar, Ghatkopar (East) in Mumbai on Friday afternoon.
Belel, who had been missing since Friday morning, was found dead on the backseat inside the locked car owned by Dr Ahire, who works at Sona Maternity and Nursing Home situated at Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar.
Residents of Hyderabad, the Belels - Aryan, his seven-month-old sibling Atano with their mother Pinky - had arrived in Mumbai on May 4 to visit their relative in Ghatkopar (East).
"Aryan was the light of my life. This is a clear case of murder. Why else would the doors of the car be locked from inside? I came here for a holiday and ended up losing my son. Who will my young Atano look up to as his elder brother now?" said a grieving Pinky.
PI Shinde of the Pant Nagar Police Station told Agence India Press that, the cause of death has been determined as severe head injury according to the post mortem report. A case under Section 302 of the IPC has been registered and investigations have commenced. We have seized the car and are looking for clues.
Sunil Belel, who works as a jeweller in Hyderabad, rushed to Mumbai on hearing of the untimely death of his elder son. "I don't know what we can do about this now. We are poor and it is now up to the police to deliver justice," he said.
