Raw : Hebron police on Sunday continued to investigate the claims of a Beitar Illit resident who said he was attacked and struck by a truck driver at a construction site in the settlement. The police have not yet apprehended the attacker, who is employed by a private company that works for the Civil Administration.
Police sources said they were in contact with the complainant, and that on Monday they will investigate a video documenting the attack. The complainant, Elhanan, told Ynet that he arrived where the diggers were parked at 4:30 pm on Thursday.
Supervisors from the Civil Administration then arrived accompanied by police officers. The truck driver requested that Elhanan move his vehicle and an argument arose between them.
According to Elhanan, who was outside his vehicle, he told the driver, "I'm not leaving. You're the garbage, not me."
Then, he claims, "The driver got out of his truck, took out a metal bar, came right up to me wielding the bar and said, 'I'll show you who's garbage.' Then he slapped me and broke my glasses. After that he got back into his truck and drove away."
The video, in Hebrew, shows the driver striking Elhanan and saying: "I'm the garbage?". The driver is then seen entering his truck and shouting, "Watch out, I will break all your bones."
Elhanan added that the driver "asked me to move the car, and I went to the car and got in, but he didn't even look in the rearview mirror, he just started reversing and didn't wait for me to move the car.
"When we drove out of the town, we made eye contact, and I mentioned his bad driving and the fact that he had damaged signposts. The driver replied from his cab, 'Get out of here, you piece of garbage'."
Later, Elhanan filed a complaint with the Gush Etzion police. Because of the incident, Elhanan said, he suffers from headaches and is undergoing medical checks.
The Civil Administration emphasized that the driver is not one of their employees, but is employed by a private company that works for the administration, and that the administration denounces violence of any kind.
