  • John! I got drafted in 1966 and yes, I did try to get out of it! I was having too much fun partying, drag racing and drinking 3.2 beer. Hell, I didn't even know at that time we were at war. Yeah, I heard some shit about that place called Viet Nam but paid no matter. Well, then I entered a new world. Those guys with the Smokey hats screamed, yelled and sometimes even knocked my smart ass to the ground. But after a short time this became fun to me because it was a challenge. But anyway, in More..

    • @john1054..Doesn't matter, John. I'm just trying to say that back in those days the media was tossing out bull shit just like it is today. Do I trust what I see on the news? NO! Do I believe politicians? No. Would I trust you? Yes! BTW, all those VNam movies were nothing but BS with the exception of "We Were Soldiers". Just my opinion.

I'll shut the fuck up now.
      Cheerz!

    • @figatomek You know, the problem is that it was a real type situation. But it wasnt news worthy for selling newspapers and magazines.
      I hate the news media.
There were many hero's in VN. You just never heard of them. It wasnt popular then.

  • Full Metal Jacket was released shortly after I enlisted and when I was on liberty after basic @ MCRDSD my friends were all over me asking me if Marine Corps basic was really like that. To this day I will never forget "This is my rifle, there are many like it", COD in the squad bay w/ the hatch and portholes secured because the red flag was out.

All of these princess mutherf#ckers that want to protest and keep their hands out have no idea what has been done so their lame @sses can spou More..

  • Once again, thanks for your service!! And I do think Time was right, for the most part. Kids are broken down and molded into Marines, not becuase we need Marines to do the "bidding of the Government", but because when we do need to go some where, we have young men and women with the intestinal forditude to charge a gun nest, cover a grenade or counter an ambush. You don't get that ability from taking sociology 101 at the local Community College. You learn that in the sand's of Pari More..

  • Wise words.
That is the real problem with our country. Too many people are too intellectually lazy to seek out the truth for themselves and instead settle for any story that fits their own worldview. The real problem isn't our elected officials, its much deeper, its the electorate!

  • Military got me away from drugs, got me into shape and I got to see a lot of this world. All the homos talking down on the US can shove it. Very few live in an equal let alone better place.
