  • I'm trying to adapt this to the standard joke of how many gears does an Italian Tank have? 1 Forward and 6 Reverse. Or at least an equivalent joke.

    Any suggestions?

Maybe Q. What's the difference between a Hun Bomber and an Italian Bomber? A. The Hun pilots aren't pissed out of their brains on Grappa and don't usually surrender at 30,000 feet to a Home Guard soldier on the ground.

  • ...interesting to see these different angles of propaganda during ww2!

  • "hateful" comments.... of course they where and understandable. The Nazis and Italians were not flying over the British Isles dropping flowers. They tried to submit the Brits into submission by bombing them, killing many. Would you have anything nice to say about pilots who dropped bombs on you from Russia, Korea or China? I think not.

    • @nightfly87 Less than 800,000 allied soldiers, sailors, airmen and civilians died in WW2.. Which considering over 45 million total died is a pretty easy way to live during a war.

    • @b4z_uk Hmmm... you try telling the relatives of those that died that they passed in a "pretty easy way" and argue the fact that they were just a few in the global conflict. Your logic and reason to your statement baffles me?

  • You need to get this in perspective,we were enemies at war,and they were dropping their bombs on our country. What did you expect?,a thumbs up?,maybe a handshake and a positive performance appraisal over coffee.

  • Wow I've learned something new...never knew the Italians were in WW2...oh wait, they were providing moral support, I remember.

  • I don't hate his comments. They were made in the heat of a war voluntarily entered into by the Italians and Germans who were both hell-bent on destroying the British military and enslaving their people. In war both sides de-humanize their enemies. It makes it easier to kill them without regret or shame.

    Excellent post by the way!

  • Hateful? I suppose, how unfair of us nasty British to commit these hate crimes on the poor Italians, they were only waging war on us after all.

  • LMFAO.

Wouldn't it be great if British Pathe were in charge of doing the footage and voiceovers from Afghanistan today?

  • Don't be stupid, the comments were accurate and justified. The bloody wops and their paper planes were and would never be a match for any other second world war aircraft.

  • Interesting. I'd expected the English to not be particularly happy with Italy attacking them, but the racist comments were a surprise.
