UK teachers take day off to strike

The UK’s public sector unions went on strike on Thursday. Half the schools in the UK were closed or partially closed. The strikers were protesting David Cameron’s government’s austerity measures, which involve cutting pension benefits and raising the retirement age.

However, seeing as more cuts could leave them jobless, many teachers and public sector workers chose to cross the picket line.

Even the opposition Labour party said the union was wrong to strike. What kind of lesson are they teaching the UK’s students?
