  The secret "underbelly" was seen to be Turkey. No, the secret underbelly was seen to be oil, and Galipolli, the acces of Western Europe's oil to the Russian baku oil fields.
  
  Winston Churchill, in 1909, had begun to switch England's navy from coal-powored to oil powered. This was no benign move.
  
  The "spoils of war," for England, was no territory grab. It's interesting to know that in 1919, England had managed to station a million soldiers in Mesopotamia, around all the oil fields which had begun to exerce such an influence on the destiny of global geopolitics (a term invented by, an Englishman, how surprising!).
