The Coast Guard cutter Anacapa sinks the derelict tsunami debris Japanese fishing vessel Ryou-Un Maru
GULF OF ALASKA - The Japanese fishing vessel, Ryou-Un Maru, is sunk in the Gulf of Alaska after receiving significant damage from the Coast Guard Cutter Anancapa crew firing explosive ammunition into it 180 miles west of the Southeast Alaskan coast April 5, 2012. The crew was successful and sank the vessel at 6:15 p.m. in 6,000 feet of water by using explosive ammunition and filling it with water. That boat survived a tsunami, and it drifted across the Pacific for a year only to end up being scuttled.
It seems like such a waste.

...sure shooting the shit out of it would be fun and great practice, but seriously, why not tow it to port and dispose of it properly?...lots of salvage waste sitting there, not to mention the oil, petroleum and who knows what else that just got released into the ocean...it's a derelict fishing boat washed away in the tsunami, not like it was parked inside the Fukoshima reactor and escaped...
