@porsheman Dick Cheney and others started companies that would supply the troops, and the military payed extremely high prices for this service. They then sold the rights of the oil to oil companies and the money that Iraq makes from this sale is then used by the military to pay for stuff in Iraq.

It's a good question to ask about who is making the money off the oil, because I thought that the money made from the oil was meant to pay for the war, but 4 trillion dollars later and American tax payers are paying for it.

Oil is ONE of the reasons for staying... i.e.: energy security. Sounds like a good reason for staying there to me.
