SOUTHWEST PHILADELPHIA - August 17, 2012 (WPVI) --
A 9-year-old girl was hospitalized this morning after being bitten multiple times by a pit bull in Southwest Philadelphia.
Medics were called around 11:30 a.m. Friday to the 6800 block of Dicks Avenue.
The child was transported to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia as a trauma alert with multiple bites on her head, neck and back. There is no word on what may have prompted the attack.
Most neighbors say they do not know the family at the house where the dog attack happened. They believed the household has two large dogs, which are sometimes let out on this back deck. A woman answering the front door of the house confirmed a little girl had be attacked and bitten by a dog inside the house, but that the 9-year-old was going to be okay.
The woman volunteered she had called Animal Control to take away the attacking dog. A few minutes later, when Animal Contol officers arrived, the same woman became upset saying she did not want news cameras near her house. At that point she apparently told the Animal Control agents to go away without the dog.

F*&%ing Pit Bulls. Here we go, people saying its not the dogs fault, it's the owners fault. Well how many times have we herd of a Pit Bull attack on family members and the owners have raised the dog from birth.
There is something inherently wrong mentally with this breed of dog.
...and don't give me any bullsh*t that it's the way the dog was raised by it's owners. There are too many stories like this!

Did the woman in the video seem like someone, who had the capacity to own and train a powerful dog breed to you?
It doesn't matter if you've had it from a puppy, if you doesn't train it right, and that goes for any breed.
The only difference is that this breed, does a lot more damage, when it goes wrong.

Sounds to me like the news station has a deal with animal control...
It was irresponsible for the parents to leave the kids alone with the dogs(pitbulls, no less), and needing to call animal control is a sign that they shouldn't have dogs, much less kids in the first place.
But the fact that News cameras showed up along with the animal control persons proves that animal control is giving confidential information to outside sources before any kind of actual information is recieved. Fuck that. I More..

How many of these stories do we have to hear,before they outlaw the breed. There are very few good pit bulls but,there is an instinct in all of them to attack.There are other breeds of dogs that attack also but, not even close to pit bulls. They need to be put in cages or just put down. The owners need to be very careful, and severly contain these pits.

Outlaw the breed, and it gets even more interesting for the wrong persons.
We have banned several breeds here in Denmark. The result? No decline in attacks.
Don't outlaw the breed, outlaw the owners.

Many countries have outlawed pitbulls, deaths and serious injury almost certainly decline as a result.

putting an end to pitbulls wont solve anything. there are so many other breeds that will do more damage. the problem is pitbulls are very cheap and are available everywhere. I have owned pitbulls all my life and neither has any of my dogs attacked or put anyone in an uncomfortable position. it all matters how you train them from the start. Also if you look at american temperament test society you will acually be amazed that pibull are on the very top. far ahead of golden retrievers.
