  • The new scorpion antivenin is VERY expensive about $13k per shot so the hospital ripped her off. The traditional horse serum derived products have been replaced by modern tailored drugs that are effective but ludicrously overpriced. And you don't get to opt for the old antivenin either. They give you the good stuff. There is no alternative. It's the ridiculous Rolls Royce option for everyone treating them into bankrupcy.

    • @kajidono No, the real problem is tort law giving a drug a de facto monopoly. What's a doc going to say at a wrongful death trial if the scorpion had killed her? "I didn't give her the better drug because it $45k a pop she couldn't afford it. Instead I gave her the $500 treatment a vial but she died. But if she'd lived I would have saved her a quarter of a million bucks."

  • LOL shit mothafuck i get stung by a scorpion , i can just go to the hospital and get fixed up for free, i can break my arm go to the hospital get if fixed for free, etc. damn dont you just love universal healthcare? haha i know i do. the only thing we pretty much have to pay for is a fucking ambulance ride becasue the healthcare doesnt cover that.{ofcourse we pay everything through taxes} l.ast time i was in an ambulance, last december... it was 395$$

    • @kushclock Was closer to $1000 for me with a reduction to about $500 due to a managed rate or something. If you can avoid the ambulance. Their collectors are pushy scumbags too. Even if you fully intend to pay they are fucking assholes from day 1. I guess they're just so used to dealing with people who refuse to pay. Felt dirty just dealing with those assholes.

  • The Gov just wants us to BUY insurance.
    Like having to pay for COBRA even while having a job. Many companies are planning to DROP our company insurance because if that.
    Any decent job includes healthcare insurance at a very reduced cost.
    Not healthcare like in the UK at all.
