Earthquakes Japan vs. Haiti
Yes....Haiti is poor and Japan is not, however even poor people can care about their immediate environment and affect it. An example is picking up litter from your front way and creating a communal incinerator. A community police force would be a good use of time and a much needed resource. How about creating a plan? No? Nothing.... Oh well....a couple of questions then. Why is Haiti in such a bad situation? Will it get better?

@Ninja_SBD
You are so right. New Orleans was probably identical to Haiti and a real mess.
Interesting avatar by the way, hahahaha.

@Ninja_SBD If you focus on the ninth ward. After those people were shipped out the crime rate plummeted and simultaneously jumped in Houston and other cities where the 'refugees' were sent. It was like mother nature gave N.O. an enema.

@Ninja_SBD Don't be stupid. Differences? In Haiti there was no functioning government (the one before disaster barely functioned), no place to go to and no money to get there, no food (since there was little prior to disaster), no shelter, no money to rebuild or provide aid, victims of Katrina had better shelter AFTER than Haitians did BEFORE.

@gregsto Like there is a functional local government in New Orleans right? Shit didn't get done until the US Government came along... The same for Haiti...

It comes down to the difference between a productive, hard-working culture, and a lawless, unproductive one.
Simple sociology, in my eyes. To compound things, Japan was all but leveled by war just under 70 years ago. They had to rebuild almost completely.

Sort of. Assisted them, is more apt. Japan used aid along with a strong work ethic and good economic policy, to rebuild.
It's not like America physically rebuilt Japan. The US provided aid money, sure -- there's no denying that. But taking credit for rebuilding the country is a bit...ambitous.

@jum_runky Point taken, however I reserve the right to point out that without money you have to use chicken shit to try and create chicken salad....can't be done.

Interesting comparison. Some people seem inclined to anarchy, crime and crude behavior patterns.

It’s not about money; blacks act the same wherever they live.

Look at the blacks when Katrina hurricane came, raping, killing and looting, and they were in a first world country, the USA not Haiti! Haiti used to be safe and prosperous when it was ruled by white Europeans, but when blacks got independence they ruined it. Just the same happened with Somalia, Nigeria, Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) and South Africa etc.

I've read that Haiti was one of, if not the, greatest sources of colonial income for France prior to the French Revolution. The slaves are credited with successfully revolting when in fact they had no one to revolt against except the greatly outnumbered farmers since the military had gone back to France. Haiti could be a great place if different people lived there.
In 1992 hurricane Andrew hit southern Florida and looting ensued. Then it hit Louisiana and instead of looting, people helped eac More..

There are two major differences between the peoples of Haiti and Japan.
i) Japan has preparedness for major nationwide catastrophes, eg tsunamis, earthquakes and/or volcanoes. In addition, they are a civilised society.
ii) Haiti is none of the above.
