Nazi Supership! Pt-1/6

For the first time since 1941, historians lay eyes on the deep-sea wreck of the Nazi Battleship Bismarck.

  • The Yamato was a far bigger warship than this :)

Bad thing about it, it was such a big target it just begged to be focused down and sunk quick... :P

    • @BeerWolf84 Yeah, these super-ships are pointless without air superiority.

    • @BeerWolf84 Indeed the Yamato and Musashi were the biggest BB ever built. 18 inch guns. However the Nazis did plan a 144,000 ton super battleship with like 20 plus inch guns. I believe they ended up trying to make a carrier instead

    • @Dat1111 It was one of their biggest failings. They had the engineers and great-minds to do well, but, Hitler and the Nazis were too vain with too much ego. Everything had to be the biggest and the most complex and the most sophisticated.

Giant ships, giant tanks, giant railway-guns, jet fighters that take huge resources to build and fall apart the first day.

33,600 Sherman tanks, small and easy to produce and easy to repair and simple. etc.

      Or...

1,300 Tiger tanks, deadly, but overly comple More..

    • @ST0N3PONY Numbers matter when they can be deployed properly. Yea they were developing weapons far superior to the allies in the sense. But the numbers game was not on there side.

    • @Dat1111 That was a strategic trade-off and an intentional choice IMO. It's not that the Germans had a monopoly on genius engineers. It's that the allies took a more intelligent and more practical approach at waging the war. We were fighting to win the war, they were fighting to show everybody that they were the master-race.

  • Dat1111, It seems you have banned me. Not sure why.

I have tried to make comments to your posts (of which many have been excellent), and after typing for ages (not realising it you), and then applying i get the msg, 'banned/blocked'! Which is pretty damn annoying!

I think i have tried to PM you asking why, but that gets refused, i get a blank page - ?

Can you explain why the ban/block?

    Thanks.
