  • They have already gone up over %100 in the last few years. One of the reasons it costs so much is that we sell over half our power to the US at a discount, and in order to do so the government has been subsidizing rates for Canadian consumers. The subsidies are now gone.

  • My house is all electric baseboards.
    I've got to switch over to a wood stove if I'm ever going to heat my fucking house while still being able to feed my family.
    These new rates are draining me beyond dry the winter months.

    • Probably. I know my insurance will skyrocket if I put a wood burning stove in the basement to heat the house, as well as cost me at least $3000 to install.
