I read about this woman on facebook the other day and I thought seeing her recovery was more than inspiring. So for EMS week, I pass this story on for you Liveleak.

A young EMT was nearly killed when a drunk driver crashed head on into her. The driver was reported dead on scene and young EMT, Vanessa Carrillo, was medevaced to the appropriate hospital. It was also stated the drunk was driving at speeds 100mph+ and the medic was going around 70 mph.

The following are pictures of her at the hospital and two years later at the scene of the accident. She went through hell and came out fully recovered. ( sorry if they're out of order)

"Never give up hope there's always a chance that someone will improve. Vanessa wasn't wearing her seatbelt and that saved her life. She is so tiny that when the ambulance was rolling, she was thrown between the seats. She is also a volunteer firefighter and the accident happened in her district so her own department had to pry her body out of the wreckage. She suffered two femur fractures on her right femur, her left femur was broken into ten pieces, left tibia had two fractures, her left fibula had one fracture, her left triceps were pulled out of her elbow, her head had bleeding and she suffered a stroke, her nose was pushed so far into her face that it took three surgeries to pull it out, her right eye has severe scarring and permanent damage, along with multiple scars on her face and her whole body. The doctors put rods in both femurs and the left tibia. She fought hard every day to come as far as she has."
