Operation Red Storm East was held at the Scranton Lace Factory, in Scranton, PA during the weekend of April 27th-29th 2012. Over 300 participants faced off in this factory that had been closed since 2002.
I don't know how many of you are familiar with airsoft, but I had a blast. It was a very unique experience in a very unique building. I wish I had time to go through the building and photograph it. This facility had over a million square feet, some structures over four stories tall, and way too many staircases.

I don't want to comment on the level of air in relation to true combat and weapon behaviour. But you had a nice time and it looks excellent for your physical condition as well.

@litebyte Yeah, the event is touted as a simulation, but it's more like playing Battlefield in real life. It's terribly fun and a very addicting hobby though.

That looks like awesome fun! I'm surprised the local crack heads hadn't stripped the copper and other metals out of it yet.

@XR400R probably hired a private security firm, they do that a lot up here with abandoned places. I have run into a lot of them whilst urban exploring.

The penultimate RPG! No contact though, too big an area? Some F/B's and Smoke 'nades wouldn't go amiss either.

@BunkerGearGal It was lot lot of walking and a lot of very short intense firefights. With only 300 people fighting in a million square foot mill, hostile contact was something that came at you out of nowhere and was over in a few seconds.

@thirstyschaivo Not too many, the command staff was all former military though. The heavily accented guy speaking in the beginning served in the Russian Army before moving to the United States.

@ZANGADO It's a shame, because it looked like it had been a beautiful city at one point in time.

there's a place near me called PRZ, they've bought up an old military hospital compound and turned into into a paintball/airsoft warzone. The big events draw 300-400+ people, if i had the money I'd be buying up a place like this.
