You're a titanic, dripping cunt. You want to squeeze blood out of a stone. Why are you pissed off about the tiny amount of money the poor could pay in taxes IF THEY COULD, while being completely ignorant of the rich hiding money overseas so they don't HAVE to pay taxes AT ALL?

  • The "Buffet Tax" would bring in around 4 billion per year from the "rich" to the US Treasury. If the Bush Tax Cuts were allowed to expire for the top bracket that would bring in around 80 Billion per year.

The FREAKING DEFICIT IS 1.5 TRILLION DOLLARS PER YEAR. DO THE MATH.

The Bush tax cuts expired for the rest of us ,it would bring in 200 billion per year. With all of that we would still have a deficit of over 1.1 Trillion per year.

    • @T0M65 Income taxes are unconstitutional and should be abolished. It is foolish for us to hand over money we earned to politicians who use it to fight unjust wars and build systems of surveillance with which they turn around and spy on us with. It doesn't help anyone to increase taxes; it only grows the government and military industrial complex.

  • If he and people like him were to pay more taxes, our government wouldn't give that money to the needy, it would drop a few extra bombs on women and children overseas or build another drone to spy on American citizens. This whole argument over tax rates is moot until we force the government to stop wasting our money on needless wars and overseas spending. Once all of that money is brought back home and spent within the US, all US citizens can expect a tax cut and better standard of living. It se More..

Do your homework, the foreign aid we give each year is less than 40 billion. Deficit = 1.5 Trillion.
The "wars" cost 100 Billion per year, the entire Defense budget is around 700 Billion.

Even if we cut the entire Dept of Defense budget, everything, we would still have a deficit of 700 Billion that our kids are going to have to pay back.

    • @j2nh I don't understand what you're implying; cutting the deficit by nearly 50 percent is a hell of a good start. At least now we are engaging in the proper discussion of reducing spending, not increasing taxes in order to sustain the monstrous growth of government.

      Posted Aug-17-2012 By

    • @WellArmed Cept that all they would do is find new ways to expand government and burn up that 700billion extra and then some. And that would only last until our military crumbled to the point that we couldn't defend ourselves any more.

    • @WellArmed
You can't eliminate the Department of Defense, not possible. To cut the deficit will require cuts to entitlements, SS, Medicare as well as reasonable cuts to Defense. Things like foreign aid to amount to anything.

    • @kajidono This is precisely why we need to address our policies of unchecked spending and wanton waste. We need to cut needless government programs and shrink the power of government to it's proper scope. Our military will not crumble; it can be maintained at it's present level or even downsized; most of it's current budget is invested in growth. Americas military is plenty big.

my countrymen and women who are hurting do have my money and my support, the fact is, what should be intended for them is siphoned off by Liberals who steal the tax money and divert it to those who game the system, are not citizens or use it to further their grip.

  • In 2006, the top 1% of Americans paid 39.9% of the entire country's income tax bill. The top 10% paid 71% of the total bill.

Those in the top 50% pay 97% of the income tax, and the top quintile paid 72.4% of the income tax, corporate income tax, and payroll tax.

    Here's what should happen:
-loopholes should be closed for the rich, but tax rates should be lowered
-we should require that EVERYONE pay something
-we need to simplify the tax code across the board
    -lower the number of brackets

They need to increase the taxes for the majority of the population.

    • @TooManyNewbs You ever consider the fact that the reason so many Americans love their country is because of it's long history of embracing small government and very few entitlements? Our government will only waste the money; people can spend their money wiser than the government.

Awesome platitudes and you hit the nail on the head-- they use every LEGAL means to reduce their tax burden. That's exactly why we need to change what is LEGAL. And if everything Romney has done to reduce his tax burden is legal, why is he hiding it? You can go on and on about fantasy candidates and parties that don't exist, but back here in reality, the choice you have is between one candidate who is cognizant of the fact that the system is tilted FAR in favor of people like Romney More..

Then once again we get to the Romney this and the Romney that and the absolute bullshit about Obama giving two shits about you or your family.

You can go on all day about fantasy parties and the like but until you get around to figuring out that the President is not the primary problem here, you'll never have a clue.

I never really thought you'd understand the point!

    • @picklethepug You're right, he said it's near 50%. It's not a matter of how rich a person is that decides the tax rate though, it's how they are earning their money.

Lovitz still works for a living, so he pays on the same scale the rest of us do. Romney and those like him make money by investing what they already have, which has already been taxed as income when they earned it.

So if you look at it that way, if Lovitz earned his pay at work, paid 50% income tax on it, then invested it in some More..

  • Americans are a bunch of cry babies when it comes to taxes. The average American pays about 12%, Romney, a billionaire says he pays 13%. Wow!

Those must be the lowest taxes in the world and the TeaBaggers are out screaming like so many spoiled brats!

    Posted Aug-17-2012 By

    • @Nepean109 Unlike Canadians, Americans aren't a completely worthless group of leaches looking for handouts. We prefer a small government and being left to take care of ourselves. How is it being 'spoiled' to want to keep what you have earned? Your philosophy is one of socialism which is proven flawed.

      Posted Aug-17-2012 By

      (4) | Report

    • @Nepean109 Which does nothing to address the fact that Lovitz is being taxed at 50% before deductions, like he said. Unlike Romney, Lovitz is working a job, which is taxed at that much higher rate. Romney's income comes from investing money he already has, he doesn't punch a time clock, thus the lower tax rate.

But you already knew that. That's why you avoided talking about Lovitz and attacked Romney and the Tea Party.
