Atlas Angel Gabriel was declared below the minimum safe approach speed
on run-in. This led to a stall and subsequent spin. All skydivers
exited the aircraft and the pilot recovered the spin and landed the
aircraft safely. The matter was reported to the SACAA the pilot
involved will be receiving additional training to avoid re-occurrence.
The aircraft has been inspected and no contributing defects were
discovered. As a precaution the aircraft is also undergoing a stress
analysis.
Hence forth, all Atlas Angel pilots will undergo more
intense stall and spin training as part of their initial and bi-annual
re-currency training. This will enable pilots to identify and
pro-actively correct situations that may result in a stall or spin.

Quick modification: Oh look, all sorts of other skydiver planes seem to also have these horrible "incidents! that those of us who are actually pilots call a Pilatus Porter doing an extreme descent:

@RealityChecker Dumb ass pilots. That's a good way to either kill a sky diver or destroy an aircraft if someone hits one of the control surfaces and bends it to where it will no longer function.

@RealityChecker that explains the music being added to not let us hear normal flight procedure and dialogue.

I would have preferred to have heard the swearing, screaming, "holy fuck were going to die," and panic rather than that way too chilled out music.

Skydive aircraft are the fucking worst. I am a flight instructor and avoid places that have skydive operations like the plague. Those asshats often don't talk on frequency, land on intersecting runways when people are using the other runways just so that they can get back a minute or so quicker, and are generally unsafe and basically screw everyone else in the pattern over.
Long story short, fuck almost all the skydive pilots that I have had the privilege to fly with at an airport.

@spudsmac Luckily my DZ has its own landing strip far away from any airport.

Just looking at this again - I have concluded the spin was intentional for the purposes of the film. It would be the only way the aircraft could keep up with the divers in the descent and as you can see the clip with the a/c heading straight down with the divers looks pretty damn cool.

This is a set up - obviously some sort of advertising.
The pilot must be an imbecile not to be able to recover that!

@RSock9 He is correct, this type of stall/spin is actually corrected very quickly and quite easy. It just happens to look alot worse than it actually is.

If this were a stunt as some are suggesting, isn't it exceptionally dangerous to jump out of a spinning aircraft because you could hit the tail or the wing or strut something as it's spinning? I can't imagine a skydiver agreeing to be part of that sort of stunt. Just askin'.

@JeddyAlpha that is why the airplane was clearly spinning as some guys jumped out, right? Because none of them would do that. The pilot stops the rotation briefly as the main cameraman exits the plane then resumes the spin before landing.....because it was unintentional right? Wow, you have to be dumb. Next time save your comments for things that you know about.

I know your type Jeddy. You were trying to call people out who know it's fake because you had a preconceived notion of how thing were supposed to be and you want to be right. You ask stupid questions if that was really a question. Who would jump out of a spinning plane? Everybody, according to the video. The spin began before the first person exited the plane. So you look extra stupid for stating that you 'can't imagine a skydiver would be part of such a stunt.' they were all a part of it. Tryin More..
