Navy shoots down defunct satellite with SM-3. Apparently because it was carrying a full fuel load of the chemical hydrazine, also so it can be smaller and disintegrate while it re-enters Earth's atmosphere so a full size satellite full of dangerous chemicals don't land some where on Earth.
