Man gets head stuck in bin

A homeless man was left screaming for help after his head became trapped
inside a litter bin while people stood nearby taking photos and
laughing.
Known locally as Tam, the 52-year-old man became stuck in
the 5ft-high public bin in the Castlegate public square in Aberdeen on
Sunday evening for 15 minutes.

  • Jeeze' I feel bad for the guy.
    Because he got stuck in the first place, and then that people stood by and laughed at him rather than try to help him.

  • I might have chuckled, but I probably would have taken the opportunity to shove a $20 bill in his pocket. This is so sad, though I'm sure that he is way beyond caring what others think of him as he probably swallowed his pride a long time ago.

    I don't know how it is in the UK, but here in the States the majority of homeless people are veterans. So it's not like these people are lazy or refuse to work. If you were just lazy and scum-baggish, you would suck the welfare system dry. Instead, with h More..

      I don't have source, was just making a casual observation. I do however have a source that suggests veterans are 50 percent more likely to wind up homeless and that on any given night, 75,000 veterans are homeless and that's a very conservative estimate. This isn't counting vets that have temporary housing, just the number of vets that are out in the cold on any given night.

    • @airspoon That's the source I was looking at, too. Either way there's a disproportionate amount of homeless vets. These aren't older vets, either. 5.5% of overall homeless population are Afghanistan and/or Iraq vets.

      I would agree with you to an extent. I think a lot of homeless people are addicted to drugs, but not all. I do think that they all suffer from mental illness, well the vast majority anyway, which often leads to self-medicating. I think this may be the reason why there are so many homeless vets, as they pick up metal illnesses and fall through the cracks of the incompetent VA, and turn to self-medicating.

  • There once was a time when he was a young boy, he was loved and full of dreams, hoping to have a good life and be happy.... For some reason it turned out differently and doesn't have a home and was trying to survive... I don't judge, but my feeling is saying not to laugh... Not that I know what I should do... but ya get my feeling... out!
