“There are more atheists in the country right now than Jews, Muslims, Hindus and Buddhists combined and doubled –

That’s a lot of people, and we are the most hated … for no reason other than pure and simple religious bigotry, spurned by ignorance,” Silverman said. “Ignorance is killed by awareness … we want to put many faces to [atheism], so people will understand us better and tolerate us more.”.

  • Ive always found it rather odd why many americans consider that being a secular, rational and intelligent person without religious affiliation is somewhat a 'bad' thing.

Why would you want to be a bible thumper? isnt it better to know that what you believe in has been tested and verified to be true, as opposed to supposedly the words of a supernatural being with as much veracity as santa clause and the easter bunny?

  • This interferes heavily with my studies of religious nutcases.

Kind of works both ways. Live and let live.

  • If I could afford to go, I'd go. Religion is the worst thing this planet ever invented.

  • If I lived closer to D.C. or had more money and free time, I would love to spend the day there.

  • I would not doubt it.
Hard core religion is showing a very bad face right now.

  • Nobody cares.

Your guess is as good as mine no matter how many times you use the word 'reason'.

  • I used to be Atheist, I think there is a 'God' Though religions are just cultural menifestations of the fact (and are ALL wrong). I've come to the conclusion that we must be made from some sort of 'universal architect' Everything about nature is a math pattern. Life also cannot come from non life, Only life can create life, no if's or buts about it.

    • @XjamesX I grew up with no faith too. For many years I thought about my reason for existing and I just came to the conclusion that there was more to my existence than a result of a mere primordial coincidence. Of course, I know many feel quite differently and that's ok too. Just a personal thing that made more sense to me.

  • Any animosity toward Atheist's they bring on themselves.
They're just as annoying as the JW or Morman cultist's who bang on your doors.
I could care less what anyone believes as long as they don't push their beliefs or laws on me.

    • @mentiroso That would be a jewish rally. It isn't nearly as much of an adrenaline rush to kill someone who doesn't give a shit about your superstitions.
