Sarkozy: Visiting hate and terror websites will be punished

French President Nicolas Sarkozy has spoken out strongly against
extremism, but urged his countrymen not to stigmatize Muslims, after a
32-hour siege that resulted in the death of a radical Islamist gunman
who confessed to killing seven people.
Sarkozy has proposed a raft of new anti-terrorist measures.
Speaking in a press conference straight after the end of the siege in Toulouse, the French president said anyone regularly visiting websites "justifying terrorism" or "preaching hatred and violence" would be prosecuted.
Sarkozy also called for punishments to those who travel to radical Islamic camps, even if they commit no crimes on French soil.
It is suspected that the Mohamed Merah, the gunman who numbered three Jewish children among his victims,
visited Afghanistan and Pakistan on several occasions, fighting
alongside the Taliban. Merah claimed links with Al-Qaeda during the
siege. The French president also called for an investigation whether the French prison system has become a “breeding ground” for “ideological indoctrination” and “forced recruitment” into terrorist cells.
Merah had been arrested on more than 10 occasions, and had several stints in confinement.
Sarkozy also emphasized that the vast majority of Muslims "have nothing to do with these crazy terrorists," and urged unity, saying “the French republic is always the strongest.”
Regarding the death of Merah, Sarkozy said that the authorities “did everything in their power to capture him alive,” and that they will now investigate whether he had any accomplices helping him carry out the audacious shootings in recent weeks.
After
persistently struggling in the polls in his bid for re-election later
this year, Nicolas Sarkozy’s leadership throughout the shootings and
siege has boosted his electoral rating, and he is now the first-place
candidate with 30 per cent of the vote.
The Toulouse murders
and the operation of the alleged killer might bring additional political
scores to Nicolas Sarkozy ahead of the future presidential elections,
writer Diana Johnstone told RT. “He [Sarkozy] has completely
dominated the television screens for a couple of days as a result of
this and shoved the other candidates into the shadows at the time when
it was supposed to be the beginning of the campaign,” she said. “So as a matter of fact, Sarkozy just by being present everywhere has already profited from this.”

@sgtloverlips I can't stand the guy. He's so insignificant and petty, putting on airs of seriousness and resolve. A pathetic excuse for a human being.

@Moore Slayer Yes but he's trying to fill in de Gaulle's shoes. De Gaulle was over 6 feet tall and had feet to match I presume, whereas Sarko is on the short side, which make his attempts at statesmanship quite risible. If all politicians are like this then he's among the 1% of politicians who overdo it.

This episode earns us 2 more articles in the Penal Code. People who feel good hearing that doing this or that will be prosecuted under a new penal law don't deserve to be free. They are already enslaved by their fear and no amount of repression will ever make them feel safe enough.

Careful now! If you speak up against this you are obviously an extremist and will "be punished" however that will manifest. First, they try to go online and fight "terrorists" now it is "extremists", next, it will be dissentors. You'll see! The governments all over have already taken this bullshit too far, and they have no idea that they have. They are delusional and dangerous. And that's what they will call you, because they cannot fathom your opposition to what th More..

i wonder how much Europeans love their "freedom" that was provided to them by the allies in ww2??
half of Europe was put under the brutal yoke of the communists/bolsheviks who murdered tens and tens of millions. while the western half was flooded with third world immigrants and has been under the yoke of the leftist/pc/cultural marxists where you can be imprisoned for thought crimes. you are so free!!!! same shit here in the US though. these nation destroying rats need to be routed ou More..

When 2 days ago I said it was a re-election ploy for Sarkozy someone replied he had never read anything so stupid. I'm pretty sure that's what it was and I'm not the only one as the author implies, saying Sarko is now at the top of the polls.

@khamomil There seems to be a pattern with swinging elections. Just like holding exercises during terrorist activities and earthquakes.
Note the Madrid bombing had a huge effect on the election in Spain.
This is precisely why socialists hide under the cammo of democracy. The peasants can be played to the same tune over and over again.

They won't outlaw Islam and Naziism, so the rest of us must suffer under new laws. New security laws should only be aimed at the communities who instigated the need for such laws with their violent hate attacks.
