Enjoy it, because there will never be another one. You can thank the asshats in government that are even now starving NASA in order to feed all the illegal immigrants.

Cool video...but you know, even Russian dash cam videos are in HD, so couldn't NASA use one of those, even with the wrong date and time?
Just saying...

The shuttle uses 70's technology, so I guess that applies to the cameras too.

@The Judge Yes, true, but the last launch was last year, 2010 so how difficult could it be to suction cup one onto the dash, next to the plastic Jesus?

@tihZ_Ho Maybe it's a video from the 80's......... Also, the shuttle was constantly upgraded thru it's 30yrs in the air with an original service life projection of only 20yrs. Most NASA engineers agreed that the current shuttle(s) were the best versions yet, and ready for another 20yrs of service. If they could just get some of the tiles to stick on a little better they would be golden.

Dropped like a brick from what I have read.
"minus 20 degrees (almost seven times steeper than the descent of a commercial airliner)."
Thanks for the great vid.

These things have a horrible glide ratio (worse than a man in a wingsuit, technically), so they actually have to dive towards the runway to pick up speed so they can generate enough lift to touch down smoothly and deploy the chutes. If they kept it level the whole way, they'd stall out and crash.

The video screen alone for in that ship is probably more powerful than all the computing power in the first Apollo mission rocket.

@Rhemis An old Motorola flip phone has more computing power than an Apollo mission. This is fact.

It would be wonderful wouldn't it? Unfortunately we don't have the technology to get there, so I don't know how we're planning to do it in 2030 lol.

@Hitlerian
The cost of NASA during its 50 year program is the same cost of the US Army being in Afghanistan for 1 month. NASA's budget is extremely small. Red necks like you prefer to spend the money on blowing stuff up instead of advancing science and technology.

@tfwg Obama killed the SHUTTLE program fuck face, not the US Space Program... The Shuttle was a launch vehicle that was... antiquated at best, over 30 years in service. It takes more than a year or two to develop, test and have another system ready for Human spaceflight. .. The Shuttle was READY to be retired, READY for a NEW launch vehicle to be developed. The Shuttle was never mean't to go this long as it did. It has numerous inherent flaws that only a NEW LAUNCH VEHICLE can address. I ha More..
