  • if more people would have been armed in the theater, there wouldnt have been as many casualties.

  • You can't stop psycho people from doing this stuff, banning more and more things only creates more "criminals" it doesn't stop the violent acts. I don't understand why people don't realize or see this.

  • You can't un-ring a bell and you can't un-invent weapons. Plenty of countries that ban guns still have gun deaths. Criminals are able to access through the black market enough weapons to supply their need. So any gun ban is really there to make the criminals job safer and leaves a blood trail of innocent people, unable to defend themselves, leading in the direction the criminals went.

  • The movie theater massacre is not a reason to consider gun control. It was done by a lone lunatic who was intent on killing large numbers of people. If he did not have access to legal guns he would have used illegally acquired weopons or explosives, as evidenced by his booby trapped apartment. Anyone crazy enough to do this type of thing will not be stopped by taking guns away from law abiding citizens.

Why would gun control take them away?
Not being a dick, asking a real question.

You are right, let us not forget guns are essentially illegal in Mexico and they continue to get guns. Now before someone says they all come from the US.

Think about what you are saying, and remember there are no retail outlets for RPG's, grenades or military grade ordnance.

Besides they kill people with chainsaws, knifes, fire, impaling, beatings, strangulation, suffocation and just about any other gruesome way you can cause the death to another

It isn't guns that are the pro More..

    • @dxh Gun control has historically been a means to whittle away people's right to own guns until it reaches a point where gun ownership is illegal. I just don't see where this specific incident justifies stricter controls.

    • @dxh We have gun control. Anything more would literally be taking them away.

They already run you through the wringer to get one, force you to register it so they know who you are, what you have, and where you have it. Machine guns and heavy ordinance has been illegal for a long time. What more is there but showing up at your door demanding that you give it up?

All this would do nothing to take weapons away from people who would use them to harm others.

Here's how fucked up the system is. I g More..

    • @Zeb So am I. I agree that the problem is not with guns (or even gubs) but with people using them wrong. You and I were making the same point.

    • @TOAORick

Sorry.I misinterpreted your post as being negative.

The people who critise guns the most are usually those who have never used one.A bit like saying "i dont like beef" without even trying it.

    • As I said in that post to somebody else, gun control is breathing and even, steady, even supple pressure on the trigger. Squeeze 'er just right and oooohhhh, it's magic! cheers

  • Although it's not a perfect system, it works pretty damn good. The "lone gunmen" types will never be able to be stopped. Taking away or restricting guns is not the answer.

  • Having government decide who can have guns is like have criminals decide who can be police.

When people get to thinking that government is an altruistic and uncorruptable force for good they should also forfeit the right to make judgement on anything in the constitution.

    • @86mang75 True, some people have this beautiful image of the benevolent government protecting it from bad people.

Those people need to realize the government is made up of people, and you never know what kind of people they are in charge until it is too late.

A politician is just a con-man who is put in charge because he lies better than most.

  • Reminds me of Woody Allen in one of his movies. He's robbing a bank and hands the teller a note. she reads it and says, "you have a gub?" A funny scene built around poor penmanship. Anybody remember which movie?

  • Gubs should be controlled!

  • I am not in favor of a ban on guns.

A very large percentage of gun violence in the U.S. is committed by people who are currently not allowed to purchase or own guns. This wont change with new gun laws.

I am in favor of cracking down on illegal gun owners and stiffer penalties for those who use guns to commit crime.

  • 300 million guns in the US is what keeps the US government from going balls out fascist.

I'll take the random nutjob over living in a dictatorship any day.

    Live free or die.

"Free" such as it is in the US. We would be far worse along the fascism path if it werent for the guns.
