  • Why do I in many, not all mind you, pubs in the UK get served by people with heavy eastern european accents? Why have so many eastern-europeans come to the UK and stayed? Because they will actually work for money. They are trustworthy and show up.

      I was wondering, being from the US, if people in the UK, or I guess even down under, that also have trouble understanding some of the English accents we hear from around the UK. Sometimes I can't understand a word, others I can understand perfectly. When I hear the ones that remind me of Monty Python, I always laugh out loud!! Python is my favorite!!

      Not so much the accent, but more the comprehension, their use of grammar. I can't work out what they are saying- they do use sub tittles on some of them

      Example:
      One girl wandering out of a store with her hoodie on and stolen goods in her arms said “We’re just getting some of our taxes back”.

      As far as I know Curry's electrical are not responsible for her taxes- maybe it's an English thing?
