Rawand Maulwd, Head of Kurdistanian Organizations in Italy, has recently held a meeting with Pope Francis. They have discussed the past terrible situation of Kurds under the awful umbrella of the former Bath's Regime in Iraq.

Rawand has informed PUKmedia that the Pope has showed his full support for the Kurds to announce their declaration of independence.

Rawand has also said that he is working for enhancing relations with different sources abroad so that the support of foreigners for Kurds will increase in the world.

Rawand is the head of Kurdistanian Organizations in Italy and also the director of office of Italy of Democratic Organizations, which are organizations belong to Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK).

Tens of thousands of Christians from Baghdad and other Iraqi Arab cities have fled to the Kurdish controlled region (KRG) since the war started in 2003. The Christians are a part of the Kurdish community and practice their religion openly and freely. Kurdish Christians, non-Kurdish Christians, Muslims, Yezidi and other groups live peacefully together in the Kurdish controlled region. Not only in the Southern part of Kurdistan (liberated part, officially still part of 'Northern Iraq'), but also in Northern Syria, in the Kurdish controlled / YPG-held regions. Many Christians from other parts of Syria have fled to the North where they are protected and treated equally by the Kurds.
