Crazy Inmate Makes a Run for It

Now for a bit of levity...

This is from a show called American Jail, and in this episode, a drunk inmate calling for Jesus to save him, finds a possible escape route, or perhaps just his 15 minutes of fame. Either way, it's hysterical.

"HELP ME JESUS, HELP ME JESUS!!!!"

Sorry, dude, the only Jesus you're going to find in jail is some Mexican gang-banger named Jesus.

  • this is inhumane. Jail clearly will not rehabilitate this man. Isn't that jails main objective? Obviously all cases aren't the same but this dude needs mental help asap.

    • one of the stupider things I've ever heard. Make profit from what drinking tickets that end up costing more in court costs and incarceration? good one bud. Jails are meant for "rehabilitation" or in real words, to rid society of law breakers.

    • Neither of you guys actually listened to the commentary, did you? They explained pretty clearly that they had just arrested the guy that evening, that they couldn't so much as get his fingerprints of his antics, and that they were considering how to keep him from hurting himself until morning when a nurse could do a mental exam on him.

Processing units are NOT for rehabilitation. They are for holding the prisoner safely until he can identified, see his lawyer, and appear before a judge. Peopl More..

    • jails main objective is not rehabilitation but confinement, you are thinking of prisons, some prisons embrace rehabilitative or humanistic approach, others punitive punishment.

  • I was impressed by these officers. They treated him with a certain amount of compassion and thoughtfulness. I know they were probably influenced by the camera being present, but still they did not totally disrespect this guy. They probably have figured he has other psychologic issues that need attention.

    • Ahem... they also knew the camera was rolling.

    • You all didn't see the ENTIRE episode. This guy is MILD in this tape compared to when they brought him in. They tried to process him almost a dozen times, and each time was a string of profanities and just craziness. I just picked this segment because of the Mr. Miyagi run attempt out of the cell. LOL

    • Hmmm...given that additional background, I guess I admire the patience of these officers even more. I know I would have run out of patience in this circumbstance, and been sorely tempted to deliver a few Mr. Miyagi-style chops and blows to this guy's head to knock some sense into it. Thanks again for the post.
