Those weren't Marines.
Most likely they were villagers who were suspected of being informants to the allies.
Maybe they left everyday like this to meet up with their handlers and upon returning to their village, were ambushed. (Their little pow wow prayer session at the start implies they this was planned well in advance)
Marines DO NOT move like this and would never approach an unsecured structure in this manner.
