Murdered U.S Ambassador Christopher Stevens talked about his exciting work in Libya and spoke of his support for Libyans standing up for their rights
Part of channel(s): US ambassador to Libya killed in attack (current event)

U.S Ambassador Christopher Stevens, was killed by smoke inhalation and dragged through the streets of Benghazi yesterday. He along with three embassy staff were killed in an attack on the Benghazi consulate and a safe house refuge, stormed by Islamist gunmen blaming America for a film they said insulted the Prophet Mohammad.
Here is what Reuters had to say on the incident

In the video below, we see Christopher Stevens was 'excited to return to Libya and continue the great work we've started'. He said he was 'thrilled to watch the Libyan people stand up an demand their rights'. His intention was to build a strong parnership between the U.S and Libya to 'help the Libyan people achieve their goals'. In the clip he draws parallels between the troubles of the American civil war and that which has been happening in Libya recently.

After graduating from Berkeley, he travelled to Africa where he worked as a Peace Corps volunteer teaching English in the North Africa (Atlas Mountains, Morocco). He 'quickly grew to love this part of the world'.

Nearly his entire career in the foreign service has been spent in islamic nations in North Africa. Tragically, his career has been cut short by extremists demanding justice for a film he had absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with.

Christopher Steven's video below is clearly self-promotion and has a bias so it so make of it what you will. I think the key point is that most of us realise that he and the other three embassy staff members did not deserve death without trial at the hands of an angry mob.
When will moderates in the Islamic world stand up to condemn actions such as these? When will religious clerics begin to denounce these attacks. Egyptian and Libyan politicians will apologize, but this is meaningless when it is still acceptable to incite violence and hatred towards non-believers and those who 'insult the prophet mohammed'. Prosecute those who committed these acts, and begin to bring those responsible for inciting violence to justice.

  • It this guy gave a fuck about the Libyan people instead of the few thousand scum bags that have destroyed and now run the country and looted the counties wealth he might still be alive today. Hillary Clinton should bow her head in shame for the mess Her and Messer Obama have done since taking office.

  • I think we all predicted this kind of behaviour when our governments supported the terrorist overthrow of Qadafhi.

As you sow, you shall reap.

  • US supported terrorist scum in Libya.
"Libyans standing up for their rights" - Libyans had more right under Gaddafi then after "revolution"

  • One of the protesters that attacked the embassy was asked "How many must you kill to show Islam isn't a terrorist religion?". He said "We must kill a whole lot, to show Islam isn't a terrorist religion, a whole lot.".

    • @tarzan Similar to the US bombing and killing 500,000 Iraqi children to say they're on the heels of terror!

    • @mannixxx

That was through UN imposed sanctions. Quite misleading to suggest that US killed 500,000 children - you make it sound like they bombed 500,000 children to death. Just saying.

The sanctions began August 6, 1990, four days after Iraq's invasion of Kuwait and were imposed by the UN security council. Not directly by the USA.

  • Too funny, "Libyans standing up for their rights".
What rights? They have none now, hope they enjoy sharia law under these jackbooted Islamists.
Don't worry though, everyone realizes the value of what they used to have, once its gone.

  • There are people who are trying to make the world a better place,
but it is difficult when there is a kind of people who will do anything to destroy it
and will always do so as long as they are hidden among us.

    R.I.P U.S Ambassador Christopher Stevens

  • Poor, poor dhimmi. You thought helping muslims and standing up for their rights would make them your friend. You learned the hard way that you cannot befriend someone who hates you for no rational reason. You cannot make peace with someone who worships a warmonger and slavemaster. There is no morality in people who find a pedophile and rapist to be a perfect human. Keep trying to make peace, dhimmis. Keep feeding the crocodiles hoping the crocs will never eat you.

  • Stevens is the first sitting U.S. ambassador to be killed in office since Adolph Dubs in Afghanistan in 1979. After that, Afghanistan has never, never, never be in peace for a single day and people is starving. Expect the same now for Libya, then for other countries there: Tunisia and, wait for it, ALGERIA (2nd net energy exporter to Europe after Russia, you know what I mean: Europe is going to be cutted off some energy source real soon).

Damn right! He would have been pathetically wasting away while getting raped in the showers if in prison. If you believe in punishment or if you believe in rehabilitation everyone wins had be been given a trial and sent to prison. It's a cop out that he was executed.

It's only natural to want revenge etc, but we can't let ourselves descend to their level of summary execution without trial.

    • @dusselkamp

Yes they did. While I am uncertain as to what percentage of Libyans support the US versus how many hate the US, the best information I can find is that we are very appreciated by most Libyans. That excludes hard-core Gaddhafi loyalists and hard-core Islamist nutcases of course. I see no reason to condemn Libyans out of hand based on this incident. They have a brand new country and, emerging as it did from a violent revolution, it will take some time to extend law and order throughou More..

    • @kingfordlm_bis The question of whether we are supported by the libyans or whether they are pro or anti US I believe is the wrong question that is asked way to often. Except for the sell outs that will let their country get raped for a quick dollar I don't think any libyans are 'pro-US'. Most are pro-libyan though, and as long as we treat them with respect and let them run their own affairs there is no reason why they can't consider the US as a close friend and dependable equal. I agree with More..
