That being said, we have to be fair about Mao, not only focus on his errors or his failures, but acknowledge his success too. Even if it was Deng Xiaoping's open up what brought the current economic prosperity in China, without Mao China would be a second India, and probably may have ended up permanently underdeveloped or splitted up by ethnic lines.
