Teaching them to flush is kind of a pain in the ass once they get to a certain age but it can be done. Problem is some times they find it entertaining and end up flushing the damn toilet all night.

I can deal with flushing after him rather than him stomping around a litter box and then tracking his dirty paws all over my house, not to mention having to clean the damn thing. He's an inside cat so there's no issue of him fouling up the seat. Besides, that's pretty much his own toilet, we have two others.

trained my critter on that system. he didn't mind #1, but definitely did not care for the occasional splash of a #2.
it was a bunch of money, but i bought a Litter Robot. it is awesome!!!
it automatically dumps the doodles in a sealed bin after every use.
i have 3 cats and i never smell anything and there is no litter tracking anywhere. once a weekish i pull the bag out and throw it in the bin.
