    • @possumesque No you're right they both do it but this is the platform Obama ran on when going to Washington, that he's going to change the political tone of everything and he will not engage in slanderous politics but I think in this election (on both sides) that this is as bad as its ever been. I didnt grow up in the 50's and 60's so I dont know how bad it was back then but this seems much worse.

      You're absolutely right, and it's a shame that he's adapted to the US political status quo - to stay in power one has to toss all ethics and morals aside for the "greater good".
      Say what you will about the GOP - they handed Obama a taste of what politics is really like and smacked the "hope and change" right the fuck out of him. This is forcing Obama to "change" all right - "change" his tactics. For better or worse, if he wins the next 4 y More..

    • @possumesque Yeah i definitely agree, but it also shows he was inexperienced at politics, he really didnt have any idea that this shitty mudslinging is part of it and I think he was in for a total shock when he was elected. If a GOP candidate was just as green, he would've been hammered just as bad. Things do need to change in Washington and it's awful what goes on there.

    You don't like it? Then back campaign finance reform instead of making this shit worse by supporting the Citizen's United decision. Yet another case of the Right Wing getting its way then blaming everyone else for the problems it causes.

    • @picklethepug Obama had the chance to change the campaign finance laws but he didn't, he changed his mind about corporate donations because he completely hammered John McCain in fundraising, out raising him $750 million to $325 million. He's just as bad.

But you hit on the root of the problem-- the fact that the laws exist as they do means candidates have no choice but to drink the poison if they want to have any chance of winning. The SYSTEM sucks. The difference is who admits it sucks and who defends it then WHINES about the millions of dollars spent on "unfair" political attack ads.
