11 News report "If you think a jackhammer pounding the sidewalk in front of Reagan High School might distract students.
What about two girls pounding each other in a hallway?
That's what appears to be happening in a YouTube video, reportedly shot in the school by a student.
It's packed with violent images of two teenage girls in a kicking, punching and hair pulling match as several others look on, which begs the question: Where were the adults?
“Obviously, if it did involve some of our folks, they'll act pretty swiftly on that because you can probably identify kids on there. But again, that could be any High School in America,” said HISD spokesman Terry Abbott.
It could be which is why we searched YouTube for other videos submitted by the same user.
What we found was a hip-hop montage featuring photos of students wearing clothing with Reagan High logos.
It's unclear whether the fighting in the video constitutes criminal activity, but even if it's staged, the district says it could be violating any number of school policies. Behavior that could land the participants in alternative school.
We wondered what other students thought about the video.
“I think that's pretty dangerous,” said Reagan senior Sonya Rivera. “And, I think it's pretty dumb for them to be fighting. Most of them fight for really dumb reasons.”
Whatever the reason, the girls featured in the video stop briefly to fix their hair.
A moment of sugar and spice, followed by something not so nice.
We caught up Abbott and played the video for him on a laptop. He said he's turning the matter over to police.
